about 6 species of bats are known to catch fish such as the Mexican fishing bat (Myotis vivesi), the bulldog or greater fishing bat (Noctilio leporinus), and a flying fox (Pteropus) reputed to catch fish in the sea. They trail their enlarged feet through the surface water, hooking fish detected by echolocation of ripples with their sharp claws
